We know our luck won't hold out forever, but we have woken up to more beautiful days with 20-30 knot tail winds as we head south. The kilometers have definitely been made easier with it, though crossing the Rhone with the sidewind (several times) was riotous and nerve wracking. We'll post a video at some point of Alaine being blown along...
Here's what we couldn't see when we arrived at the pension Domaine d'Amiral in St. Laurent du Pap --this is the entrance and garage with its very own lemon tree. As we've heard many times, we are the first touring cyclists to be seen in these parts this season, somewhat catching the Dutch proprietess not quite ready for guests, but still nicely accommodating.
A different method for grape growing? So many questions pop through our minds as we cycle along, and most of the time we have to be content with the "maybe" game. We have yet to have an opportunity to stop at an open vineyard to ask.
Just...beautiful and cool
The landscape changed quite dramatically as we made our way south.
And more fields of green than before... young wheat, maybe? Someone has to grow all the grains for all the baguettes and other breads abundant in bakeries and dining tables.
At Camping Pinede (pine forest) we were the sole tent campers and we had the area all to ourselves for a windy but clear night and crisp morning.
Yep, another flat. Time for a new tire.
