Clear skies and no hip waders required! Ulm to Donauworth -7 Mai

How pleasant to wake to cleanish skies and get an early start down the path today, a day we hoped to get close to 100km east. Previous 100k days weren't always easy-- what with later starts or lots climbing or traffic making for a slower and tiring pace. Today, though, flew by and we were able to get to town (one without a campground very convenient) and find a simple pension with decent wifi to catch up on the diary, get some work done, and communicate with home as well as family here in Bayern.

Much more tame than swans of days oast. It seemed these and others were chosing to waddle on shore and make their way upstream, instead of battling the heavy current.

Ulm is a pretty big city on both sides of the river, but we were lucky to not have to deal with any traffic at all getting in or out. And within 10 minutes of our "campsite" near the west end of town, we were on a lush wooded path.

And then, lotts of cross- and through field riding!

A small sign caught my eye in one village, calling for a quick stop at this Roman theatre remains.

Castle lunch stop

Hard to tell, but the dropped petals were a good 2 inches thick here.

Birds on the wires

A more calm flow as the Donau neared another dam.

Note to selves: We may have more to add to today...
