Two old people... (And a cool backdrop/setting)
and 30 young kids--that's breakfast time at the jüngenhostle. Fruhstuck mit jungen.
Honestly, the kids seemed to be on their best behavior with two obvious elder foreigners in their midst (though I think there was one screeching girl at 22:15 the night before who was not aware of our presence).
The castle hostel's courtyard...
The "ride" of the day started with us walking our mounts 3km down from the berg a ridiculously steep trail to the valley floor (and the bridge from yesterday's post). It took us a good hour.
Besides "walking" we also muscled our mounts down the switchbacks.
View from the bottom. That's the schloss, center, among the rocks.
One hour and 2.5km later--time to ride!
Fortunately, we were not far from the hike a biking trail when i realized I'd not secured my trusty (last minute pack for-the-flight-only), cheap old grey cardigan after a potty break. The thing has become my daily garb. Paul ran back up the trail and rescued the lost favorite...
Another schloss (this time we're going to be satisfied with the view from below).
About the nicest field of dandelions ever.
We had quite a bit of forest/gravel/mud road this morning.
Baby reindeer? Wish we'd gotten a video of their flipping tails.
We entered a gate and followed a path to Kloster Inzigkofon, which has been made into a "higher" education commune-- higher being for adult learners. Seemed cool.
Sigmaringen Castle from the trail
Yet more, hochwasser! At least today we didn't have to wade through it.
How much pollen was there on the last 20 km of our day flying through farmland? Let me just say, "I am a bumblebee!"
We ended the day at a family home zeltplatz that was also home to an indoor tennis club in Riedlingen. We pitched our tent and got busy on showering and clothes washing, thinking the warm weather and a clothesline would make swift work of our dusty and dirty clothes while we walked into town to the grocery store for dinner things. Too soon, though, the rain came again. Thankfully, this "campground" had some picnic tables under cover.
